Definitely our favourite! We went back to the same restaurant in Al Calafate twice. Basically it is barbecue Argentine style.
Mate, also known as yerba mate, chimarrão or cimarrón, is a traditional South American caffeine-rich infused drink, particularly in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, the Bolivian Chaco, Southern Chile and Southern Brazil. It is prepared by steeping dried leaves of yerba mate in hot water and is served with a metal straw from a shared hollow calabash gourd. It is common etiquette that the same gourd and straw are used by everyone drinking.
This is like curry puff. The traditional Argentinean baked empanadas are filled with beef, onions, paprika, hot pepper powder, cumin, oregano, hard-boiled egg and olives.
