National Parks

One of the highlight of the trip has got to be all the national parks we visited.  Here’s a summary of all the parks we visited.

Grand Canyon National Park

It took us 5 hours to get to Grand Canyon from Las Vegas.  By the time we arrived, we only managed to catch a glimpse of the sunset over the canyon.  To maximise our time there, we decided to wake up early and catch the sun rise.  I’m so glad we did.  It was so beautiful.  I’m also glad we didn’t spent the money on the Skywalk.  It was already mesmerising to view the Canyon from the normal viewing spot.

Yosemite National Park

Dav has always been crazy about rock climbers especially those that climb Yosemite’s Half Dome.  So when we had the opportunity we decided to stop in the national park.  Unfortunate for us, the week before we arrive, there’s been wildfire in the national park.  To make matter worse, we took the wrong route into the park (it has multiple entry) and ended up in the park very late.  Anyway we managed to catch a glimpse of Half Dome from a viewing point early the next morning.  We agreed that we’ll have to come back in the future.

Death Valley National Park

This national park is the hottest and driest of the national parks in the United States.  There are some amazing view around the park.  We drove around and even got to the lowest point in North America, Badwater Basin (elevation of 282 ft below sea level).  At night we joined a star gazing talk which was interesting.

Super hot in Badwater Basin, Death Valley National Park. This is the lowest point in North America, with an elevation of 282 ft below sea level.
